Wine, Dine and Punchlines: Date Night at the Dillard House

Spring will be here before we know it. I’m so excited to share with you an amazing date idea in the North Georgia Mountains. Do you enjoy wine, comedy, and amazing food? Of course, you do.

The Dillard House offers delicious southern cuisine, beautiful views, and is located less than two hours away from the city. It’s the perfect romantic getaway. The property consists of spacious accommodations, family style restaurant and horse stables. The Dillard House has been managed by the family for years; in fact, this year The Dillard House is celebrating their 100th anniversary. It is absolutely gorgeous.

The Dining Experience

Food is very important to me and the Dillard House surpassed all expectations.

Most of the vegetables are grown on the Dillard property. All the courses are served family style with unlimited portions: come hungry! My favorite dishes were the collard greens, ribs and of course the corn on the cob. I appreciated the huge windows that allowed a lot of natural light to burst through.

Wine, Dine, and Punchlines is an original comedy show & wine tasting that includes on-stage audience participation. During the show, Forster leaves no stone unturned when it comes to talking about wine and why we like it. Maybe you love the full body of a Malbec or the smooth buttery finish of a chardonnay. Who knows? Who cares? But by the end of this show three things are certain. You are confident about what you like, exhausted from laughing and completely relaxed.

The king size bed was soft and heavenly. Next time, I’ll definitely start up the fireplace. From the balcony, I could see the horses trotting along the trail.

Speaking of horses: I went horse backing at the Dillard Stables!

My horse’s name was Saddie and she was a dream. I was nervous at first, but it was very relaxing and we even went through a small river – breathtaking!
