Is It Possible to Work Together and Travel?

Is it possible for a couple to work together and travel?

For some couples, this is the best case scenario and for others – it’s their worst nightmare coming to life. So, I wanted to ask a real couple who does both.

Introducing Trevor and Anna of Delightful Travellers:  A Canadian couple that specializes in web design and loves to travel!

How did you guys meet?

We currently have our own web design company and work together. But long before our company existed we both worked at the same newspaper. Anna was just out of university and Trevor was a few years into his career. Trevor used to walk by Anna’s desk everyday and eventually stopped and chatted.

What was the first date?

We went for lunch together. However, we don’t count that as our first official date, the day after our lunch, we went out for hot chocolate and a movie. Trevor had fun teasing Anna about using a spoon to drink her hot chocolate and whipped cream. But the next day he showed up at work with a hot chocolate- with a spoon.

Any tips for couples that travel?

Make sure you are on the same page about the way you like to travel. It might not be so easy if one of you prefers only luxury vacations and the other is more into backpacking and hostels. Both of us are very laid back travellers. Neither of us prefers to over plan our days, we might schedule one or two things here in and there but we definitely prefer to just explore a place as we go. We’ll wander, get lost, and find interesting things that we weren’t expecting. Not everyone can travel this way.

I’d also say we’re both relatively low maintenance, we prefer to pack lightly and travel as efficiently as possible.

It’s really difficult to find that person that travels like you do. There may be some compromise involved but we think it’s really important that you start off on the same page!

What has been your favorite trip so far?

I’m not even sure we can answer that! We’ve loved all our trips in entirely different ways and that’s something that makes travel so much fun as well as exciting! We were most recently in Tulum, Mexico and had the best time. We stayed in the town of Tulum but each afternoon made our way to the beach. It was a perfect combination.

What’s next for you guys?

We’re off to Toronto for a work conference. It’s a city we’ve collectively spend a lot of time in, but it’s been ages since either of us has been and we’re especially excited for all the new restaurants. We spend so much time exploring other countries, so we’re looking forward to spending some time in our own country!
