If you ever find yourself in Cape Town, dining at Gold Restaurant should be high on your list. Make your reservations when you arrive in town, trust me on this.
The award winning Gold Restaurant has a 14 course menu featuring dishes from all over the continent. African cuisine is predominately based on organic foods: whole grains, beans, fresh fruit and vegetables.
The staff is very friendly. I was greeted at the front desk and then escorted into a large performance space. Each guest was given a drum, and we learned how to play. Don’t worry if it’s your first time, the instructors were jovial and ensured we learned the basics.
After the drumming demonstration, we were ready to eat! Our hostess explained the set 14 course menu – dishes served from Morocco to Mozambique. There were several skits and musical performances as we dined, so we were entertained throughout the entire meal.
I loved the traditional wardrobes and music. I haven’t traveled every country in Africa yet, but this gave me a glimpse of the various cultures.
Enjoy!
